Position Responsibilities

As a department of 30 sworn officers who respond to an average of 13,000 calls per year, MPD plays an active role in keeping the community safe. MPD Officers receive the highest quality of training and there are many opportunities for officers to specialize in areas of personal interest.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

MPD welcomes officers looking for a change. Competitive packages are available for lateral transfers. Lateral transfer officers may start at a higher pay step and vacation accrual rate.

  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
