Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
General Patrol functions including patrol, investigation of complaints, assists to the public, maintains order, responds to calls for service; enforcement of State Criminal and Traffic Laws and Local Ordinances; and solving problems of the community. This posting is for a patrol officer position. We also accept lateral transfers with the lateral transfer details listed below.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
Currently employed full-time. Minimum 3 years full-time sworn law enforcement experience with arrest powers with any city, county, or state law enforcement agency (time served as reserve officer or other type of unpaid officer will not be used to calculate prior years of service). Preferably has obtained some additional specialized training(i.e. investigative, instructor, special units). No pending disciplinary actions, investigations for misconduct or criminal activity, and is leaving current department in good standing. If an applicant meets all the above criteria, they may be eligible to be hired at a salary level higher than the starting wage (per union contract) and may receive 80-120 hours of vacation and up to 40 hours of sick time. All wage and vacation increases thereafter would be subject to the language in the police union contract. An offer of employment shall not affect the new hire's seniority for any other purposes; his or her seniority shall be based on his or her actual hire date with the Village of Marshall. A lateral transfer will still have an 18-month probationary period and be required to sign a 3-year employment agreement.

- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record

- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
- High School Graduate or equivalent; Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or 60 college credits from an accredited college with Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certification or currently enrolled in the Academy
