The DeForest Police Department is conducting a recruitment process seeking entry level police officer applicants to work in a fast-growing community with opportunities for growth within the department. We are looking for motivated, hard-working, and dedicated professionals who believe in community policing and enjoy working in a team environment. The department has specialized positions including K9 Handler, Instructor, Drone Pilot, Recruiter, Special Response Team, School Resource Officer, and Detective. The starting full time hourly wage is $32.83 to $39.68 dependent on experience, qualifications, and education under the 2023-2024 contract. Additional educational incentives for 90 college credits and a BA/BS degree available upon hire, including a starting wage of $34.80 for those with a BA/BS degree and no experience. Those needing police academy training will be paid a minimum academy rate of $24.62 for attendance at the academy.
