Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Maintains safety and well-being of the public. Patrols all county highways and roads enforcing the applicable laws and performs general police duty in the county in connection with thefts, vandalisms and family disputes.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

New Hire Law Enforcement Officer candidates offered employment by the County may be eligible for lateral entry benefits if they are leaving another fulltime law enforcement position to become a Waushara County Deputy Sheriff. They may be granted a starting wage up to the 5 year of the Waushara County salary schedule based on their past full time Law Enforcement Officer experience with prior approval from the County Administrator. The starting wage will be credit for prior law enforcement service and those years of credit will count toward future wage increases on the wage schedule. They also shall be granted 84 hours of vacation with prior approval of the County Administrator. It is understood that this service credit will play no role in establishing department seniority in any other circumstance.
