The Village of Cross Plains population is about 4,200 and located in the western part of Dane County. Cross Plains serves as the gateway between the Madison metro area and the Black Earth and Mazomanie corridor. The Village is home to beautiful parks, top schools, and diverse residential settings. The Cross Plains Police Department is led by Chief Tony Ruesga Jr. and is currently allocated a sworn staff of 6 full-time officers, one full-time support staff, and 2 part-time officers. Come join our team as we grow with the community. We are currently in the process of building a new police department.

A part-time officer you will have priority if a full-time position opens. For this part-time opportunity we are looking for someone to patrol evening and night shifts as well some weekends and holidays as needed by the department. We are looking for a well-rounded individual who is a problem solver with excellent communication skills with a community-focused attitude.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
