Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

UW-Whitewater Police are committed to protecting the lives, property, and rights of all residents, through proactive policing, community engagement, and strong partnerships.

Patrol officer responsibilities include but aren’t limited to;

  • Responding to calls for service
  • Conducting criminal investigations
  • Enforcing state and UWS18 violations
  • Enforcement and monitoring of traffic laws

Upon successful completion of probationary period, officers are eligible for specialty positions, including K-9 Handler, Detective, Riot/Mobile Field Force Team, Drone Operator, RHO (Residence Hall Officer), Evidence Technician, Bike Patrol, Peer Support team, Drug Unit task force officer, field training officer, court officer, and many more.

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
