Responsibilities:
As a sworn law enforcement, you work under the general direction of a ranking officer, supervisor or Police Chief. You will need to enforce laws, investigate complaints, enforce traffic laws, maintain order, assist people, identify criminal activity, issue citations to and arrest offenders, testify in court, prepare reports, identify and collect evidence, identify the source of problems in our community and work with our law enforcement and community partners to resolve them. As you develop your knowledge, skills and abelites you may be eligible to apply for specialty assignments, such as evidence technician, tactical instructor, evidence/property custodian, community intervention team, peer support, preventive programming, critical incident / emergency management, field training officer, and more. Lateral Transfer Program Details:
Are you an experienced officer who is looking for a change? We offer a lateral entry program to make sure you don't feel like you're starting over. Depending on how many years of verified full-time law enforcement service you possess, you could: - Start higher on the wage scale, up to the top pay rate of $35.26 - Up to 80 hours of vacation starting. - Up to 96 hours of sick leave starting, while accumulating 8 additional hours of sick leave for each month worked after you start.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20

- f Law Enforcement Academy is needed, candidates must pass the Wisconsin Physical Readiness Entrance and Exit Exam
