Position Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Beaver Dam Police Department are to serve and protect the citizens of the City of Beaver Dam. The Beaver Dam community strongly supports the Beaver Dam Police Department and its programs. Programs include but are not limited to the drug task force, bike unit, Emergency Response Team, field training program, and K-9 Unit. We have a very extensive training program which includes field training, DAAT, and Firearms. We also have a new range/training facility that we can utilize at any time. The Beaver Dam Police Department offers a very enjoyable work atmosphere where employees want to stay and advance in their careers.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Lateral transfer pay will depend on the number of years of previous full time law enforcement experience.

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
