Position Responsibilities

The role of an Amery Police Officer encompasses various responsibilities, such as patrolling, enforcing criminal and municipal laws, maintaining public relations, and ensuring the safety of the community. This involves monitoring and implementing traffic laws, investigating traffic crashes, responding to routine and emergency assistance requests, investigating and reporting criminal activities, making arrests, and performing other related law enforcement duties. The Amery Police Department is willing to sponsor a candidate for an upcoming 720-hour recruit academy. Our officers work on a Pitman schedule offering officers every other weekend off.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

The City of Amery is actively seeking experienced and skilled law enforcement officers to join their team. To streamline the hiring process, the city has implemented an accelerated lateral entry program exclusively for full-time certified officers. This program offers potential benefits such as faster hiring timelines, with the possibility of starting work in just a few weeks compared to the traditional, lengthier process.   • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification

  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
