Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities of Police Captain include: monitoring, supervising, and evaluating activities of sworn and civilian employees to ensure the delivery of high quality police services; budgeting and fiscal control; policy development and implementation; enhancing organizational effectiveness by researching and implementing best practices; completing special reports and assignments; assisting with development of department goals and objectives; ensuring organizational readiness through training and personnel development; commanding critical incidents; and other duties as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision of the Chief of Police.

Qualifications

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification

  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen

Other Qualifications
  • be a State of Wisconsin Certified Police Officer; • possess a Bachelor’s degree; and • have at least five years of full-time law enforcement experience
