Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
Participate in special units such as: Strategic Patrol Unit, Warrants Unit, K9 Handler, Courthouse Security, Domestic Violence Specialist, Evidence Technician, Evidence Custodian, Training Officer, SWAT Team, Dive Team, Crisis Negotiations Team. Respond to citizen's requests for assistance. Investigate criminal activity and civil complaints. Take into custody and provide services to individuals. Guard and care for prisoners. Restrain aggressive persons to include applying handcuffs and other restraints without assistance from others. Engage in physical altercations with or without equipment or weapons and have sufficient skills/training to overcome and subdue suspects. Observe for improper activities. Enforce traffic laws, state statutes and county ordinances. Write reports, citations, documentation and diagrams. Testify in court. Operate vehicles and other equipment including weapons during hours of work. Work overtime hours during situations deemed by the Sheriff as an emergency.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification

- Minimum Age:
Minimum Age21
- Associate's degree from a Wisconsin vocational, technical and adult education district or its accredited equivalent from another state or a minimum of 60 fully accredited college level credits.
- Minimum 21 years' of age
- Possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's (Driver's) license from state of residence and be eligible for licensing as a class "D" operator in Wisconsin, not revoked, suspended, or otherwise prohibited, at time of application. Applicant must have a valid W

- Participate in oral panel interview process.
- Obtain certification by the Civil Service Commission on the psychological exam
- Must pass background investigation.
- Height and weight in proportion. A medical examiner will consider height and weight in determining physical fitness for the position.
