The Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) is seeking experienced and qualified individuals to serve and protect the WSFP, its employees and patrons as Police Detectives within the Police & Public Safety Department of WSFP. The detective will investigate and manage criminal investigations. Detectives will manage and supervise crime scenes and conduct background investigations. Detectives will conduct interviews and interrogations and collect and preserve evidence for prosecution. Detectives will also become part of the SFP Police Department’s Milwaukee Area Investigative Team Membership and respond to critical incidents as necessary. Detectives also provide dignitary protection services to elected officials as well as entertainers or other dignitaries. Wisconsin State Fair Park is a year-round entertainment venue hosting activity, events, meetings and more throughout the four seasons. Home to the Exposition Center, Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center, the Milwaukee Mile Speedway, Products Pavilion and many other facilities, hundreds of events are held at the Fair Park each year. Perhaps the most notable and certainly the signature event, the Wisconsin State Fair, welcomes more than one million Fairgoers over 11 summer days.

Responsibilities:
- A minimum of two completed years of qualifying full-time investigative experience on another police department or five or more years of experience working for the WI State Fair Police in a sworn capacity with the ability to attend specialized training necessary for the performance of this position.
- The ability and desire to work at the Department year-round, on a part-time basis.
- The ability to work during the annual Wisconsin State Fair.
- Must be a US citizen and Wisconsin resident at time of appointment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Substantial knowledge of criminal investigative procedures. Substantial knowledge of proper evidence collection and preservation.
- Substantial knowledge of criminal law and procedure.
- Substantial knowledge and experience in the concepts of interview and interrogation.
- Ability to follow a logical progression of information leading to the identification of a suspect.
- Ability to write a detailed and accurate report describing complex events in a logical sequential manner.
- Ability to testify in court in an accurate, clear, concise, and convincing manner.
- The above stated knowledge and abilities must be supported by previous full-time law enforcement experience as a detective, investigator, or detective bureau supervisor.
