Responsibilities:
Position Responsibilities Bayside Communications Center Telecommunicators serve as the critical link between the public and emergency responders, providing 24/7 emergency communications services for multiple North Shore communities. Telecommunicators work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. Responsibilities include receiving and prioritizing 911 emergency and non-emergency calls; gathering and accurately documenting critical information; dispatching police, fire, and emergency medical resources; monitoring and operating multiple radio channels; providing Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) instructions; maintaining responder status and safety; accessing and entering information through CAD and other public safety systems; coordinating with law enforcement, fire/EMS, neighboring communications centers, and other agencies; and providing professional customer service to callers and field personnel. Telecommunicators must be able to manage multiple incidents simultaneously, quickly evaluate changing situations, communicate clearly and professionally, maintain confidentiality, and make sound decisions in high-stress situations. Additional responsibilities include completing required training and certifications, participating in continuing education and quality assurance activities, and performing other duties necessary to support the daily operations of the Communications Center. BCC provides extensive training to prepare successful candidates for the position. Prior dispatch experience is welcome but not required. We are looking for dependable, adaptable individuals with strong communication skills, good judgment, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in serving their community.
