Position Responsibilities

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Communications Operator to join our team. This position serves as a vital link between the public, law enforcement personnel, fire and emergency medical services, and other public safety partners. Responsibilities include answering emergency and nonemergency calls promptly, courteously, and professionally; obtaining accurate information from callers; assessing the nature and urgency of each request; providing appropriate assistance; dispatching deputies; coordinating responses to calls for service; operating computer-aided dispatch, radio, telephone, database, and other communications systems; monitoring radio traffic; maintaining clear, concise, and professional communications with field personnel; accurately recording and updating call information, incident details, locations, and unit status; providing approved instructions and information to callers; coordinating with neighboring agencies and emergency service providers when additional assistance is required; maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive information; and following all applicable policies and procedures. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, listens attentively, exercises sound judgment, and can manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
