Responsibilities:
The Patrol Officer is directly responsible to the Patrol Sergeant and ensures the constitutional rights of all citizens. He/she will impartially enforce the laws of the State of Wisconsin and the ordinances of the Village of Mount Horeb. The Patrol Officer carries out departmental functions primary to the prevention of criminal activity and providing day to day police services to the community.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
At the Chief’s discretion, a newly hired Police Officer with a minimum of two years full-time certified law enforcement experience, may receive the following: 51 hours of vacation starting on employee’s date of hire (cannot be used until employee completes field training). Following the completion of probation the employee will be placed in the vacation schedule with credit for their experience but not to exceed 7 years experience. 51 hours of sick leave time. Pro-rated floating holidays that cannot be used until employee completes field training. Employee pay will be consistent with the Start Rate for Police Officer. Following successful completion of probation, the employee will be placed on the wage scale based on credit for their years of service, not to exceed seven (7) years experience.

- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems

- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
