Responsibilities:
Boscobel Officers perform general police duties in the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, prevention and investigation of crimes, and maintenance of public order and safety. Officers are expected to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and discretion in varying situations, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity as representatives of the City of Boscobel Police Department. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Enforce state and local laws and ordinances.
• Patrol the City of Boscobel to deter, detect, and respond to criminal activity, traffic violations, and public safety concerns.
• Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, including crimes in progress, accidents, disturbances, and other incidents.
• Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations of crimes, accidents, and other incidents; collect and preserve evidence; interview witnesses and suspects; prepare reports and testify in court as needed.
• Make arrests, issue citations, and complete all related documentation in accordance with department policy and applicable law.
• Provide assistance to the public, including directions, information, crisis intervention, and referrals to appropriate resources.
• Participate in community policing initiatives, school safety programs, and other community outreach activities designed to promote trust and collaboration between the police and residents.
• Operate and maintain department vehicles, equipment, and technology in a safe and effective manner.
• Attend required training sessions to maintain proficiency, certifications, and knowledge of modern policing methods, laws, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or designee

Qualifications:
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- U.S. citizen
