Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

-Enforce boating laws and safety regulations

-Conduct vessel stops and safety inspections

-Monitor for impaired or reckless boating

-Respond to water-related emergencies and calls for service

-Assist with search and rescue operations

-Enforce slow-no-wake and restricted area ordinances

-Provide boater assistance (breakdowns, navigation issues, etc.)

-Support special events

-Promote boating safety through public education and outreach

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
