Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

-Investigate and enforce violations of State of Wisconsin laws and Winnebago County ordinances consistent with General Orders, Directives, and procedures of the Agency. -Patrol the roads and highways in Winnebago County. -Respond to and investigate various incidents and traffic accidents. -Ensure the peace and safety of the public through objective enforcement of laws and ordinances. -Recognize elements of criminal offences, and thoroughly document investigations. -Provide assistance during various special events, including traffic direction, crowd control, and security. -Serve or deliver warrants, summonses, subpoenas, and other official papers promptly and accurately.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Applicants having relevant Patrol experience who are hired by the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office will receive credit for prior full years of service at the rate of 50%. Credit for prior years of service apply to pay and vacation benefits.

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20

Additional Education Information
Must possess a minimum of 60 college credits, with preference given to applicants who hold a Bachelor's degree, or are Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certified or certifiable in Corrections or Law Enforcement.
