Position Responsibilities

The Captain is a sworn Law Enforcement Officer and is the Commander of an assigned Division within a Bureau. The Captain may work as a Field Deputy or in the CJF performing inspections, audits, compliance & safety duties & other duties as assigned. The Captain is a vital part of the division/bureau management and may provide Night Command after hours. Captain positions help to set & execute the goals and objectives and are responsible for the mission of their assigned area.

Qualifications:

Qualifications
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • Supervisory/Management Experience
  • U.S. citizen
Other Qualifications
  • Must be a certified Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Wisconsin
  • Must have five (5) year's work experience in a sworn LE position
  • Must have at least one (1) year of supervisory experience as a sworn Lieutenant or equivalent with a sworn LE agency
  • Must have at least 60 college credits. Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred
