Lauderdale Lakes Law Enforcement Patrol Seasonal Law Enforcement Water Patrol Officer Location: La Grange, Wisconsin Position Type: Seasonal / Part-Time Law Enforcement Patrol Season: April through November Recruitment Status: Ongoing Position Overview Lauderdale Lakes Law Enforcement Patrol is accepting applications on an ongoing basis for Seasonal Law Enforcement Water Patrol Officers to serve in our Boat Patrol Unit. This position blends traditional law-enforcement responsibilities with boating safety enforcement and public service on the water. This is a unique opportunity for certified officers who enjoy working outdoors, operating patrol boats, interacting with the public, and spending time on the lake during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, while maintaining professional law-enforcement standards. Officers may also participate in off-season training and administrative assignments.
Compensation • $42.00 per hour – Weekend Water Patrol patrol shifts • $34.00 per hour – Weekday Water Patrol shifts • $34.00 per hour – Weekday training, administrative duties, and off-season assignments • Paid training and administrative time • Opportunities for advancement and promotion within Lauderdale Lakes Law Enforcement Patrol
Duties & Responsibilities Water Patrol Officers perform a full range of law-enforcement duties, including but not limited to: • Patrol Lauderdale Lakes by boat enforcing Wisconsin boating and water safety laws, including Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 30 • Safely operate department patrol boats • Conduct boating safety inspections and public education • Enforce boating while intoxicated (BWI) laws • Respond to boating accidents and water-related emergencies • De-escalate conflicts and enforce laws professionally • Communicate clearly and effectively with residents, visitors, and boaters • Assist swimmers and individuals in distress when necessary • Launch and remove patrol boats using a trailer and department truck • Work independently for extended periods on the water • Complete reports and required documentation • Participate in off-season training and administrative assignments • Perform general law-enforcement duties consistent with Wisconsin standards
Schedule & Commitment • Minimum of 12 patrol shifts per season • Patrol season runs from April through November • Mandatory availability for: o Fourth of July weekend o Memorial Day weekend o Labor Day weekend • • Must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours on a boat • Officers may be scheduled for off-season training and administrative assignments • Schedule varies based on weather, lake activity, and operational needs
Minimum Qualifications Applicants must meet the following requirements: • Minimum of 60 college credit hours from an accredited college or university • Certified Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Wisconsin, or eligible for Wisconsin equivalency through another state or federal agency • Valid Driver’s License • United States Citizen • Must be legally able to possess and carry a firearm • Must not be listed on any Brady/Giglio impairment list • Ability to swim the length of a standard pool • Basic understanding of motorboat operation • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods • Ability to work holidays and weekends • Meet Wisconsin law-enforcement physical fitness standards • Successful completion of: o Background investigation o Drug screening o Medical examination If you enjoy law enforcement, boating, and working outdoors on the water, this position offers one of the most rewarding and enjoyable patrol assignments available.
