The City of Menasha is seeking a creative leader who has proven leadership and communication skills to lead a progressive, community focused police department. The successful candidate must have a track record of exceptional management, communication and leadership skills to lead a team dedicated to solving problems in the community. Menasha, Wisconsin, with a population of 18,510, is centrally located in the Fox Cities approximately 100 miles north of Milwaukee and 30 miles south of Green Bay. The Fox River flows immediately adjacent to our downtown area, and our west and southeast borders are defined by Little Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winnebago respectively and promotes itself as “Your Place on the Water”. Menasha is located in both Winnebago and Calumet Counties. The Fox Valley offers a variety of retail, dining, recreation, and entertainment venues, a Performing Arts Center, and a number of sports/recreation complex, all of which make the community an appealing place to work and live. The Department covers an area of approximately 7.76 square miles and is comprised of 33 full-time sworn personnel including the Police Chief and Deputy Chief. In addition, there are 6.5 civilian personnel, a CSO program and an Auxiliary Police Unit. The 2026 department budget is approximately $5.8 million. In 2025, the Department responded to over 13,000 calls for service.

Responsibilities:
The position of Police Chief is a fulltime, exempt department head of the City of Menasha. This position is responsible for various administrative functions including, but not limited to, the planning, assigning, directing and supervision of personnel. The Police Chief is a representative of the City of Menasha and the State of Wisconsin and as such, is governed by not only legal but moral standards of the highest nature. The position requires a philosophy of dedication to the public service for the common good of all citizens. The Police Chief shall be responsible for managing and directing the activities of the police department, including ensuring that laws and ordinances are enforced, and that measures are implemented to prevent crimes and protect lives and property.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position

- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification

- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- Supervisory/Management Experience
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
- Ten (10) years of law enforcement experience including at least five (5) years of supervisory experience.
- Advanced specialized training in management or command; i.e., Northwestern , Southern Police Institute University of Louisville's Command Officer's Development Course, Wisconsin Command College or the F.B.I.'s National Academy.
