Position Responsibilities

The mission of the Mequon Police Department is to provide a safe environment through professional, efficient, and effective police services. Mequon Police Officers are responsible for providing services to the community and promoting and preserving peace through citizen cooperation. Examples of officer responsibilities include: The protection of life and property; enforcement of city, state and federal laws; traffic crash investigation; traffic law enforcement; first responder medical services; apprehension of criminals; thoroughly investigating municipal and criminal offenses; evidence collection and processing; preparing reports; testifying in court; and other proactive actions and police services as needed.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Lateral transfers are eligible to start at a higher pay rate, commensurate with their years of full-time police service (up to maximum salary).

  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
