The Shawano County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill an immediate vacancy and to establish an eligibility list for future full-time Patrol Deputy positions. While patrol is the backbone of our agency, we proudly offer far more than just traditional road assignments. Deputies have the opportunity to pursue a variety of specialized roles, including K9, Detective Division, ATV Patrol, Snowmobile Patrol, Boat Patrol, Honor Guard, Special Response Team, Drug Task Force, and the Shawano County Dive Team. In addition, we offer take-home squad cars, providing added convenience and efficiency for our deputies. Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Shawano County Patrol Lieutenant, the Patrol Officer patrols assigned areas on foot and/or in a squad vehicle to prevent crime, keep the peace, enforce Wisconsin laws and local ordinances, and control traffic. The Patrol Officer responds to calls for service and conducts initial investigations of crimes, traffic crashes, and ordinance violations. Duties include interviewing people, issuing citations and warnings, collecting and preserving evidence, and making arrests when appropriate. The Patrol Officer provides traffic control for crashes and special events, arranges towing when needed, addresses disturbances and public gatherings, and prepares clear, accurate reports. The Patrol Officer appears in court when required, transports prisoners, serves civil process and warrants, and assists with emergencies, disasters, and search-and-rescue operations as needed. Regular attendance and overtime are required.
