The City of Beloit Police Department is currently hiring officers who are committed to service, professionalism, and community partnership. Officers work 10-hour shifts on a rotating schedule of Monday–Tuesday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Thursday–Friday, providing every other weekend off. The department offers generous paid vacation benefits, including 80 hours after one year, 120 hours after five years, 140 hours after seven years, 160 hours after ten years, and 200 hours after nineteen years, along with unlimited compensatory time. The City of Beloit Police Department provides extensive opportunities for career development and specialization. Officers may serve on a variety of specialized teams, including the Drone Team, SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations Unit, Violent Crime Interdiction Team, Instructor Positions, Uniform Committee, Assessment and Recruitment Team, Evidence Technicians, Peer Support Team, and many others. In addition to specialized assignments, all officers participate in weekly training held every Wednesday, ensuring consistent professional growth and operational readiness. Training includes handgun, rifle, and less-lethal weapons instruction; scenario-based exercises; high-risk traffic stops; emergency vehicle operations; ground fighting tactics; weapon retention; ALERRT; and joint training exercises with partner agencies.
