Responsibilities:
Chippewa County is currently seeking candidates for Jailer positions within the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department. This position is responsible for supervising inmates of the Chippewa County Jail while assuring a safe, secure, and sanitary environment in accordance with established procedure and guidelines under the general direction of the Jail Sergeants and Jail Lieutenant. Qualified candidates will have the ability to manage, direct and command people in a respectful and effective manner as well as a demonstrated history of being able to think and act quickly, accurately and calmly under time constraints and in difficult or emergency situations. Chippewa County Jailers are required to work 12-hour shifts (6 AM – 6 PM or 6 PM – 6 AM) which includes weekends and holidays.
*Current Shift Openings: Nights, 6 PM – 6 AM includes shift differential of $1.00 per hour.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously

- Clear and concise speech

- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems

Education Requirements:
*If applicant is Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) Certified or possess an equivalent out of state certification at time of hire and possess 30 college credits from an accredited college as defined by the U.S. Department of Education upon hire unless employed in law enforcement prior to 1993 and must possess 60 college credits within 5 years of hire from an accredited college as defined by the U.S. Department of Education unless employed in law enforcement prior to 1993, they may be considered as a Jailer II candidate. Jailer II must be LESB Certified and meet college credit requirements listed above at time of hire.
