Position Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety. The Tribal Deputy will become a partner with the Bowler and Gresham Schools to provide an opportunity for a full-time professional deputy to better understand the actions and problems of the youths in our communities. To assist the Crime Prevention Officer with programs on pro-active approach to community policing. Based on the concept that police officers with private citizens working together in creative ways can help solve community problems as they relate to crime, fear of crime, and neighborhood decay. The Tribal Deputy shall be required to maintain the peace, welfare and safety of all within his or her jurisdiction. The Tribal Deputy shall function under the terms of the current Shawano County Stockbridge-Munsee Law Enforcement Agreement. Tribal supervision will be from the Director of Public Safety and Environmental Protection and may receive direction from Shawano County Sheriff Department.

  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
