Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
Entry level officer responsible for patrolling City of Rhinelander; enforcement of State laws and City ordinances; ordinance, criminal and traffic investigations; and all other functions outlined in position description or as designated by Administration.
Pay for applicants requiring recruit academy is $25.80 until successful completion of the academy.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
* Currently employed as a full-time police officer and have a minimum of 3 years continuous service in this capacity. * An exemplary work history * Certified or certifiable by the State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Bureau * At least 21 years of age at the date of hire * High School graduate * Have 60 college credits at the time of hire * A valid Wisconsin Driver's License * No criminal record. After successful completion of the probationary period the lateral entry officer may be eligible for a higher wage commensurate with the Officer’s prior full-time experience, not to exceed the current wage schedule, and the lateral entry officer may be eligible for vacation accrual commensurate up to the Officer’s prior full-time experience not to exceed the current vacation schedule. No other contractual benefits or privileges are extended to recognize prior service without agreement between the City and Association. Lateral entry officers shall be subject to the probationary period and seniority provisions as in the Labor Agreement.

- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
