Position Responsibilities

The City of Columbus is a growing community of 5,600 people in southeastern Columbia County, between Sun Prairie and Madison. This position is for a uniformed patrol officer. Duties include those of a patrol officer, including but not limited to proactive patrol, responding to calls for service, investigations, traffic enforcement report writing, community relations, and other duties as assigned.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Those with FULL TIME prior sworn experience can be started at a higher wage and vacation time upon approval of the Chief of Police.

  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification

  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions

Will consider reasonably less than 60 credits with understanding of 5 year timeline to earn them.
