Reason for Announcement:
Responsibilities:
Patrol County roads, parks, and facilities by car or on foot: To perform law enforcement and crime prevention work by patrolling assigned area including traffic, parking, crowd control, answering calls for service, and investigating crimes; to make arrests as necessary. Work in the County Court System as a bailiff: To preserve peace and order in the courtroom at all times. Manage all required court documents for jail records updates. Keep records, prepare reports, testify in court: To prepare reports of arrests made, investigations conducted and incidents observed. Custody of County Charges and prisoners: To maintain custody of prisoners during examinations, hearings, hospital intensive security directed missions, trials or during conveyance to other State or County institutions. Attend required training: To participate in in-service training as required by the LESB and other developmental training as required by the Service area. Make arrests as necessary: To interview victims, complainants, and witnesses; interrogate suspects; gather and preserve evidence; to testify and present evidence in court; to apply force, up to and including deadly force. To effect arrests and maintain order. Serve warrants, subpoenas, and civil documents Participate in specialized units Provide emergency medical care: To provide medical care as required as a law Enforcement First Responder. Safety and security of occupants: Facilitate booking, identification, release, classification, and monitoring of occupants at Milwaukee County Jail. Perform this process properly, maintain a safe and secure facility. Assist courts, attorneys, & prisons. Ensure occupants rights from the time of booking until release and to ensure safety and security of the occupants, the staff, and the community.

Qualifications:
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Driver's license
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- No felony convictions

- Candidates should expect to be assigned to all shifts, holidays and weekends and/or to work mandatory overtime.
- This position is subject to a probationary period of 2600 hours of straight time hours paid, excluding overtime.
- Law Enforcement Standards Board certification thru the State of WI (dual certification as law enforcement and jailor) must be obtained and maintained during employment.
