Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

First-line supervisor that oversees patrol officers, ensuring public safety and maintaining department standards. Works with Police Chief to carry out directives, enforcing department polices and standards, and ensuring that officers perform their duties professionally, ethically and in compliance with the law. Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service and serious incidents, providing on-scene leadership and decision-making; interrogates and communicates with victims, witnesses and suspects in cases; identifies and collects evidence; completes detailed reports and required paperwork; performs follow-up investigations as required. Enforces local, state and municipal ordinances. Work hours are typically 6:45 p.m. - 3:15 a.m. on a rotating schedule of five days on, two days off, followed by five days on, three days off. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • Supervisory/Management Experience

  • Prior supervisor experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience full time law enforcement
