The Village of Roberts is currently accepting applications for a full-time patrol officer position. The Roberts Police Department offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes HSA contribution, High Deductible Health Plan fully funded by the Village, payment in lieu of insurance, Wisconsin Retirement System. Our officers work on a Pitman schedule of 2 on-2 off-3 on-2 off-2 on-3 off, which means they work 80 hours in a pay period and get every other weekend off. They also receive call-in, and court pay, Department-issued firearms are provided, and duty equipment and uniforms are provided. The Village of Roberts also offers an Officer in Training Program for applicants who have not completed the 720 Hour Law Enforcement Academy. This includes paid hourly rate at 75% of step 1 on the pay scale, paying for tuition costs, meal reimbursement, mileage or hotel reimbursement. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews will be scheduled accordingly until the position is filled.

Responsibilities:
The Village of Roberts Police Officer position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with police patrol, public relations, criminal and municipal law enforcement, the maintenance of order, public protection and safety, and other basic police services. Duties exist in the areas of traffic monitoring, control, and enforcement; motor vehicle crash investigation; patrol, observation, and inspection; responding to routine and emergency requests for police assistance; the investigation and reporting of law violations; other similar functions.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
A lateral transfer means the voluntary movement of a sworn law enforcement officer from another Wisconsin law enforcement agency who possesses current certification under Wis. Stat. § 165.85(4)(a), to a comparable position within the Department, without the requirement to attend basic recruit training. Candidates for lateral transfer must have successfully completed a probationary period with their current employing agency and maintain Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) certification. Candidates separated from law enforcement employment for cause or under investigation at the time of application are not eligible. Lateral transfer candidates may be appointed at the discretion of the Chief of Police and shall serve a probationary period of twelve (12) months following hire. Upon successful completion of probation, the employee’s seniority for purposes of vacation selection, shift bidding and layoffs shall begin as of the date of hire with the Department, except as otherwise provided below. Lateral transfer employees may be placed at the wage step that most closely aligns with their sworn law enforcement experience, not to exceed Patrol Step 3 in Appendix A. Future step advancements will be based on their initial placement step and will progress according to the wage schedule set forth. All other benefits, including sick leave and uniform allowance, shall accrue on the same basis as newly hired employees unless otherwise negotiated.
