Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Lateral candidates who are WI LESB (Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board) certified, or certified in another state and currently working for a law enforcement agency, may be given consideration for years of service when determining starting pay and vacation.

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position

  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations

60 college credits / Associate's degree
Bachelor's degree
Additional Education Information
Applicants must have 60 college credits, or an approved LESB college credit waiver letter, by January 1, 2026. College transcripts or LESB credit waiver letter must be submitted along with application to verify completion of "on track" for completion by deadline, as well as to verify financial good standing with the college / university.
