Responsibilities:
This is a mid-management position. The primary responsibilities are to directly manage and supervise the detective and patrol divisions. Duties and Responsibilities Directs, manage and supervise detectives and patrol sergeants Conduct annual performance evaluations; detectives and patrol sergeants Monitor employee performance, maintain conformity with policy and procedures, and participates in disciplinary matters Participate in recruitment and retention of employees Create work schedules, authorize leave, vacation and overtime General oversight of patrol operations Incident / Case management; prioritize and assign cases based on severity and solvability factors Approves reports, assist with quality control and distribution of the cases Manage and control online and walk-in complaints Oversee equipment and items assigned to detective division; perform inventory checks Identifies department training needs; coordinates and documents training Assures minimum staffing needs are met Handles citizen complaint as assigned regarding individual deputies Performs patrol functions as needed Command and control of major investigations Conduct criminal investigations in the jail Conduct internal investigation as assigned by the Captain and/or Chief Deputy Provides leadership to subordinate employees by providing purpose, direction, and motivation Manage and supervise the Electronic Monitoring Program (EMP) and other alternative incarceration programs Fosters positive attitudes among all employees Provides positive working relationships between the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and all other municipal, county, state, and federal agencies as needed Other duties as assigned by the Captain, Chief Deputy, or the Sheriff

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- Previous experience
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- Supervisory/Management Experience
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
