Position Responsibilities

K9 Handler--This is a newly created specialized assignment for an officer to be the department K9 Handler. This position will perform all duties of a uniformed patrol officer, including patrol, investigations, reports, traffic enforcement, etc. Additionally, the position will have all responsibilities of a K9 officer. This includes participating in fundraising activities, public relations, selection of the canine, training, and meeting ongoing training and certification requirements.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Eligible for accelerated starting pay and time off. Minimum 3 years full time, sworn experience, required for this job.

  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • Previous experience
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
  • Vision correctable to 20/20

  • Must have minimum 3 years FULL TIME sworn law enforcement officer experience.
