Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Enforces laws related to the protection of life and property, directs and controls traffic, prevents crime or disturbance of peace, and arrest violators. Works under the supervision of the Shift Lieutenant.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

New Lateral police employees will receive the following on their first day of employment: Vacation, Floating Holidays and Accrue Sick Leave. Pay rate will be determined by the Association contract and amount of lateral seniority an employee brings to the department. Vacation will be limited to no more than eighteen (18) days during the first year of employment based on the lateral seniority an employee brings to the department to be pro-rated based on date of hire the first year. Employees hired thru the Lateral Transfer procedure shall be placed on the bottom of seniority list.

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to perform essential functions of this position
  • Ability to possess a firearm
  • Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
