The Town of Washington Police Department is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy and establish an eligibility list for a Full-Time Police Officer position. Located about 7 miles Northeast of Door County, Washington Island is an island community with a year-round population of approximately 783 residents and covers an area of about 23.5 square miles. It is the largest of six islands—including Detroit, Rock, Plum, Pilot, and Hog—that comprise the Township. Our department offers a unique law enforcement environment supported by a strong community, scenic surroundings, and the benefit of a take-home squad car. Both the department and the Town of Washington prioritize family values, officer wellness, and work-life balance. A flexible work schedule allows officers ample time to spend with their families, recharge, and maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life.
