Position Responsibilities

The position of Police Commander is an executive management role requiring a high degree of leadership ability, resource-management skills, and knowledge of contemporary best practices in policing. The Green Bay Police Department has approximately 230 employees, an operating budget of $30 million and serves a population of approximately 105,000. The department is well-respected and recognized for a successful community policing approach, and utilizes an intelligence led/district policing model. Community engagement and fostering positive relationships is a core value and contributes to the success of the department.

Other Qualifications
  • Sixty (60) college credits, with an Associate’s degree or higher. A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Sworn police professional with at least five years of progressively responsible experience in a management role in the Green Bay Police Department or a police agency of similar or larger size and complexity.
  • A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Must have acceptable personal and professional history as determined by successfully completing a background investigation.
