Position Responsibilities

This position reports to the Police Sergeant and functions as a uniformed police officer providing services that include, but are not limited to, police patrol, traffic control and enforcement, accident investigation, crime prevention and investigation, response to citizen complaints, and calls for assistance. This sworn position is responsible for the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Performs police duties that include but are not limited to foot patrol, vehicle patrol, traffic control, traffic direction, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, local ordinance and State Statute enforcement, criminal investigations, and responding to calls for service. Focuses on building positive relationships between law enforcement and the public to prevent crime and solve problems through collaboration. In the absence of the Chief of Police or Police Sergeant, the senior Police Officer on duty is the officer in charge. Safeguards and preserves all property under the control of the police department. Performs all duties assigned, including department meetings, continuing education, and in-service training. Serves under the direction of the Chief of Police or Police Sergeant. Receives policy guidance from the Chief of Police or Police Sergeant. Other duties as assigned.

  • Previous experience
