Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for helping to maintain and repair the Sheriff's Office fleet, including squad cars, ambulances, heavy trucks, and other County-owned equipment. The position also installs, maintains, and troubleshoots public safety communications systems, emergency vehicle electronics, radio equipment, computer equipment, and related technology used by the Sheriff's Office and other public safety agencies throughout Oneida County. Additional responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, responding to vehicle breakdowns, assisting with maintenance of radio tower sites and backup generators, maintaining equipment inventories, and coordinating repairs with vendors as needed. Candidates are not expected to have experience in job duties listed above in order to be considered, but should have strong mechanic skills.
