Responsibilities:
This position is assigned to Field Operations, and is responsible for preventative patrol, traffic enforcement, emergency and non-emergency calls for service, and investigations concerning criminal matters. The department is a full service, 24-hour police agency, which embraces community oriented policing and neighborhood problem-solving.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:
We are seeking officers with prior experience! Lateral transfers can begin a career with Verona PD at salary equivalents to one, three, five, and seven years of experience, in addition to educational incentives! Officers hired as a lateral transfer are entitled to prorated vacation and sick leave upon hire.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- Previous experience
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen

Education Requirements:
of higher learning for which such credits shall be accepted toward a college degree, shall cause the employee to receive incentive pay on their base rate at six percent (6%).
Upon receiving a BA/BS degree, the employee will receive incentive pay on their base rate at eight percent (8%).
Upon receiving a graduate degree, the employee will receive incentive pay on their base rate at ten percent (10%).
