Position Responsibilities

The City of Spooner and the Spooner Police Department seeks a motivated individual to fill the position of Law Enforcement Assistant/Municipal Court Clerk. This full-time (non-exempt), non- represented, hourly position provides opportunities to apply and develop skills in customer service, data and records managements, report writing and general office management. As a member of the Police Department staff, the position is the primary person responsible for customer engagement, record keeping, reporting, payments, directing of law enforcement inquiries/complaints, and all duties associated with the Municipal Court Clerk. This position provides opportunities for growth in a variety of areas including municipal law enforcement and court services, record keeping, office management, and customer service. The successful candidate must be a self-starter capable of performing assigned duties without close supervision. Applicants must be able to interact effectively and courteously with the public, while able to exercise discretion, and use professional and independent judgment. Applicants should possess strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively convey information, ideas, and instructions in a clear and concise manner.

Other Qualifications
  • Progressively responsible experience in general office work, law enforcement or municipal government, as well as administrative experience; law enforcement background or experience preferred.

Additional Education Information
Minimum qualifications include Associates Degree in law enforcement, business, accounting or
other related field and/or equivalent work experience.
