Position Responsibilities

The Part-Time Police Officer is responsible for performing general law enforcement duties to preserve the peace, protect life and property, and enforce federal, state, and local laws within the community. Responsibilities include proactive patrol, responding to calls for service, conducting investigations, enforcing traffic laws, preparing detailed reports, making arrests when necessary, and providing court testimony. The officer will engage in community-oriented policing, maintain positive relationships with residents and businesses, and work collaboratively with neighboring agencies. This position requires sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision in a small-town environment.
