Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Judicial Assistant and District Attorney’s Office to determine court appearances for newly arrested inmates Review Court schedule as needed to ensure that all inmates that have court appearances are in court at their scheduled times Coordinate with the facilities and set up transports to get those inmates housed in other facilities returned for Court. Review and sign Probable Cause Statements in the presence of a Notary Public and provide copies to the Judge, Clerk of Courts and District Attorneys Office Ensure all bonds for inmates are signed by the inmate and distributed accordingly Carry all served warrants and bonds to the Clerk of Courts daily Periodically ensure that the Bond money is sent from the Jail’s account to the appropriate agency Arrange for transport when a prisoner has been sentenced to State Prison. Transport prisoners to and from other facilities as needed Transport prisoners from the Sawyer County Jail to area clinics for scheduled appointments as needed Responsible for maintaining all detainers for inmates housed in other facilities in the State Serve as Extradition Deputy for the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Video Court Equipment in the Jail Distribute documents from the Sheriff’s Department to the various departments in the Courthouse Retrieve paperwork from the Sheriff’s Department boxes in the Courthouse to the Sheriff’s Department and deliver them to the appropriate office Assist in signing Criminal Complaints as needed Check sentence computations and release dates of inmates incarcerated in the Sawyer County Jail.

Update computer system as needed Assist with Classification Deputy duties Answer the Jail telephone lines and take appropriate action Tend to the Jail Window May be assigned duties as process server, warrant server at the direction of the Jail Administrator Assist the Jail Administrator with administrative duties as needed when available Provide Courtroom Security Observe all persons entering the Courtroom, their movement and activities; as well as limit access to the bench and other restricted areas Search interior of the Courtroom, Judge’s Chambers, Jury Room, restrooms, and other areas each morning. Conduct random searches of the previously listed areas throughout the day, or prior to any potential high security hearing Provide Courthouse security when Court is not in session *Complete paperwork for inmates who have been sentenced and have receive Huber privileges *Conduct Huber checks on inmates who are out to work or on Electronic Monitoring through JusticePoint *Set up work search for unemployed Huber inmates when requested *Initially approve or deny Huber inmates requesting to be placed on E.M. through JusticePoint *Track and maintain Huber folders and community service hours (if applicable) Make arrests when needed Other specific or special assignments as designated by the Jail Administrator *Priority duties for Court Services Deputy assigned to Huber
