Reason for Announcement:
This position supports the commitment of the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Division of Law Enforcement Services to serve the Wisconsin law enforcement community. The Training and Standards Bureau (TSB) and the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) are responsible for quality assurance and oversight of training and certification of every Wisconsin law enforcement, tribal law enforcement, jail, and secure juvenile detention officer. This position assists the TSB and LESB with providing services and support to Wisconsin officers and their employers, along with oversight and support of academies certified by the LESB. This position performs professional level evaluations of LESB-certified academies and law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with statutorily mandated certification and training requirements. The incumbent of this position will be headquartered in one of the following Region 5 counties: Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Iron, Lincoln, Oneida, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, St. Croix, Taylor, Vilas or Washburn and will have extensive travel within these counties using their own vehicle. Mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
- Background as a law enforcement, jail, or juvenile detention officer.
- Experience conducting investigations.
- Current or past certification as an instructor in law enforcement, jail, or juvenile detention training topics with the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board.
