Responsibilities:
As a department of 29 sworn officers who respond to an average of 17,000 calls per year, MPD plays an active role in keeping the community safe. Officers receive the highest-quality training, and there are many opportunities to specialize in areas of personal interest. Specializations: Armorer, Citizens Academy Coordinator, DAAT/Spear Instructor, Drone Operator, Evidence Technician, EVOC Instructor, Field Training Officer (additional $1.50/hour), Firearms Instructor, ICAC Investigator, Junior Police Program Advisor, and SWAT Operator. Special Assignments: Youth Service Officers, Drug Investigator, Behavioral Health Officer.
Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Clear and concise speech
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
