The Prairie du Chien Police Department is a forward-thinking and rapidly evolving agency serving a community of approximately 6,000 residents in Crawford County, Wisconsin. The police department currently consists of a Full-time Police Chief, nine Full-time Officers, one Detective and three first line supervisors. We are department that stresses training and being on the front end of change. We pride ourselves on being the leaders in our area implementing new technology and equipment. The Prairie du Chien Police Department utilizes modern policing techniques and equipment to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all residents and its many of daily visitors. All staff members are allowed to have fun throughout their shift, in fact, it is encouraged. In Prairie du Chien, you can be in uniform at 5:00am and out for an afternoon hunt by 1:30pm. You can fish from your boat all morning and be patrolling in a squad car in the evening. We are a quiet corner of the state with every outdoorsman's dream!

Responsibilities:
Patrol the City responding to calls for service traffic enforcement and accident investigations. Patrol officers are also expected to complete Criminal investigations and be involved community policing activities. Other law enforcement duties as directed by department goals and supervisors during your assigned hours. This must all be done while having fun.

Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position
- Ability to possess a firearm
- Ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Driver's license
- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
- Good driving record
- Good physical condition
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
- No domestic abuse convictions
- No felony convictions
- React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
- U.S. citizen
- Vision correctable to 20/20
