Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

Patrol officers in the City of Spooner are responsible for protecting citizens by preventing crime, enforcing state laws and city ordinances. Duties included responding to calls for service, investigating incidents, conducting traffic enforcement, completing paperwork, and participating in community policing events, testifying in court, fulfilling court orders by serving warrants and commitments. Assisting with medical assistance to victims, suspects or anyone in need of medical attention.

Additional Education Information
Must be enrolled in or have successfully completed a 720-hour Law Enforcement Academy program certified by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB); OR be eligible to take the LESB reciprocity examination based on prior employment as a certified or licensed law enforcement or tribal law enforcement officer in another state; OR have held full-time military veteran status in a law enforcement-related Military Occupational Specialty (Military Police, Security Forces, or Master-at-Arms) for a minimum of one year beyond completion of academy training, fully empowered and compensated for all hours worked, and currently employed in or voluntarily separated from that position within the past three years.
