Responsibilities:

Position Responsibilities

*Maintain a safe community through active patrols and prompt response to calls for service. * Engage in crime prevention and problem-solving initiatives. *Conduct criminal investigations and enforce state laws and local ordinances, including traffic regulations. *Communicate effectively to resolve conflicts and testify in court as needed. * Complete official records and reports accurately. Key Duties: * Perform preventive and directed patrols while enforcing federal, state, and city laws. * Gather, verify, and report information to support arrest decisions. *Enforce traffic laws and investigate traffic accidents. *Execute the physical duties required of a police officer. Additional Tasks: *Conduct patrol duties and assist the public as needed. *Enforce traffic laws and investigate traffic crashes. *Prepare written reports, forms, and documentation as required. *Testify in criminal and municipal court proceedings.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Officers hired with a minimum of two (2) years of sworn experience in Wisconsin or another state qualify for lateral entry status. New employees may be granted a starting wage up to step seven (7) of the wage scale, equivalent to the start of year ten (10) of employment with the city and may be granted up to five(5) weeks and two (2) days vacation, based on their prior experience, not to exceed the allowance provided to members under the current vacation schedule.

  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Clear and concise speech
  • Driver's license
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
  • Good driving record
  • Good physical condition
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems
  • No domestic abuse convictions
  • No felony convictions
  • React quickly and effectively to stressful situations
  • U.S. citizen
