The Lieutenant is a critical leadership role and serves as the second-in-command of the Williams Bay Police Department. Directly supporting and reporting to the Chief of Police, the Lieutenant provides direct leadership to sworn personnel. This role combines frontline supervision with strategic oversight guiding investigations, administering standards, and helping shape policies to strengthen community safety.

Responsibilities:
Lieutenant shall cause the general day to day operations of the department to function effectively and efficiently, shall exercise supervisory control over all sworn subordinate department personnel and shall review full time sworn officers. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to working regular shifts and performing all standard patrol officer duties, the Lieutenant will be responsible for the following: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 2. SUPERVISION A. Responsible for direct, general or intermittent supervision of patrol officers B. Reviewing daily logs, reports and documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness. C. Oversee officers’ appearance and uniform standards. D. Acts as Evidence Room Supervisor, ensuring secure and proper evidence handling E. Serves as Field Training Program Supervisor, overseeing training and development of new officers. 3. INVESTIGATIONS A. Leads and coordinates investigations, leveraging available resources B. Collaborate with internal personnel, other jurisdictions, and the district attorney’s office C. Manages evidence collections, packaging and processing D. Adjust schedules based on investigative and departmental needs E. Skilled in photography, interviews, and interrogation techniques 4. REPORT WRITING A. Produces professional, comprehensive police and investigative reports B. Maintains and closes case files in a timely and accurate manner C. Prepares daily and specialized reports as needed D. Conducts interviews and obtain statements from relative parties 5. MISCELLANEOUS ASSIGNMENTS AND DUTIES A. Attends department meetings and specialized training B. Testifies in court and prepares supporting documentation C. Performs duties in both uniform and plain clothes capacities D. Reviews reports from officers and signs criminal complaints when appropriate E. Assists with joint investigations F. Responds to emergency call-ins and performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police THE IDEAL CANDIATED HAS: A. Strong leadership and supervisory skills B. Qualifications:
- Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously

- Eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification
