Position Responsibilities

Uniformed patrol officer responsibilities. Proactive patrol, respond to calls for service, traffic enforcement, investigations, follow up, report writing, testifying in court, etc.

Lateral Transfer Program Details:

Applicants with prior/existing FULL TIME experience can be accelerated through pay and time off scale based on experience, at the discretion of the Chief of Police.

  • Applicants who have not completed a police academy will be sponsored in a January 2026 academy and paid during attendance.
  • Complete and submit essay questions on DJLE330
  • Residency within 30 miles of city required within 6 months after completion of the 1 year probationary period.
  • The department is in the initial phases of starting a 1:1 assigned squad program with eventual goal of take home squads.
  • The city has recently purchased land with the intent to build a new public safety building in the next few years.
